Frequently Asked Questions
-
Pelvic health physical therapy focuses on the muscles, nerves, and connective tissues that support your bladder, bowel, reproductive organs, and core. A pelvic floor physical therapist evaluates how these systems work together and treats issues such as pelvic pain, bladder leakage, constipation, pregnancy and postpartum recovery, and pain with intimacy. Treatment may include movement retraining, hands-on techniques, breathing and core coordination, and education to help restore strength, function, and confidence in daily life.

No, an internal exam is not required for pelvic floor physical therapy. Your therapist will explain why it may be helpful, but it is always optional and only performed with your consent. Many pelvic floor issues can still be evaluated and treated using external assessments, movement analysis, breathing and core coordination
