Frequently Asked Questions
-
Physical therapy postpartum typically starts 6 weeks after delivery -roughly the same time as your OB or midwife postpartum follow up. This allows for tissue healing while still allowing early and optimal recovery.
-
It starts with a conversation about your birth story, birth outcomes, and current symptom presentation.
We will evaluate scar mobility, core strength and coordination, and pelvic floor strength and endurance.
Our goal is to walk alongside you during your postpartum journey and get you back to the things you love.
-
Yes! We love seeing all the babies. Our clinic has a small play space for toddlers and our treatment rooms are spacious for strollers or occupying little ones.
-
Absolutely not!
A C-section is major abdominal surgery. Just as any other surgery requires rehab in order to recover, so does a C-section.
Patients who underwent a C-section delivery need a pelvic PT assessment, even if they don’t have symptoms.
-
Not necessarily. An internal pelvic floor assessment is one tool to help us get a good picture of what could be contributing to your symptoms.
At Revive Rehab, we want to know your goals and symptoms prior to making any recommendations. If we feel an internal exam would be helpful, we will educate, help you understand the anatomy, and always gain consent prior to treatment.
You are always in control of your care. We can make meaningful progress with or without a pelvic floor internal exam!
